Bregenz, an Austrian resort town on the eastern shores of Lake Constance, called the Bodensee in Austria, has a moderate climate, as you can see from the temperature chart below. July and August are pleasantly warm but not swealtering. Rain falls all year but peaks in the summer months.
Bregenz is notable for the Bregenzer Festspiele, a summer performance arts festival featuring a popular opera performed on a very special floating stage. Bregenz also is noted for its art museums, especially the Kunsthous, a celebrated structure housing modern art. See a map and info on the Bregenz Festival.
July and August are the most popular months to visit Bregenz. Because of the festival, tourists are advised to make lodging reservations well in advance. September is also becoming a very popular time to visit Bregenz.
Summers are quite pleasant, but expect rain; Bregenz expects to get precipitation on half the days in June and 13 days in July. Winters are cool and damp, but the variety of indoor cultural activities make it a reasonable place to go in the off season.
The best period for visiting is between April and October.
The charts below show the historic high and low temperatures in Bregenz, with the average monthly rainfall below that.
